As Swiss enterprises accelerate their transition to hybrid and multi-cloud architectures, connectivity is emerging as a critical enabler of digital transformation. In response, nConnect, the network services platform developed by nLighten, offers a flexible, integrated solution tailored to the growing needs for regional connectivity, data security and operational agility.

A response to the challenges of modern connectivity

Switzerland, with its dynamic economic hubs such as Zurich and Geneva, is at the heart of European digital exchanges. Local businesses from innovative SMEs to global corporations, face increasingly complex infrastructure requirements: minimal latency, data sovereignty, enhanced security, interoperability between public and private clouds, and scalable architecture.

nConnect addresses these challenges head-on. Rather than offering simple colocation or IP transit services, nLighten has designed a platform capable of seamlessly connecting customers, data centers, service providers and clouds, while adapting to local regulatory and operational nuances.

Strategic infrastructure in Switzerland

nLighten currently operates two data centers in Switzerland: ZRH1 in Zurich and GVA1 in Geneva. These sites are integrated into the pan-European nConnect network, enabling Swiss and international customers to benefit from direct interconnection with other strategic sites in Europe, including Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam andParis.

This local presence is essential to ensure low latency, increased resilience and full compliance with Swiss data protection regulations – critical for businesses operating in regulated or data-sensitive sectors.

Core services of nConnect

The nConnect platform is based on four main services, each designed to meet specific needs:

  • Cloud Connect: Provides private, direct access to major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) from nLighten’s Swiss data centers. By bypassing the public internet, it ensures secure, high-performance cloud connectivity.
  • Direct Internet Access (DIA): Offers internet connectivity via nLighten’s IP addresses and autonomous system (AS), ideal for rapid deployments and virtualised environments.
  • IP Transit (IPT): Similar to DIA, but using the customer’s IP addresses and AS, offering greater control and customisation.
  • Data Center Connect (DC Connect): Dedicated interconnection between customers or to other nLighten data centers, with bandwidth options up to 10 Gbps.

These services are accessible directly from edge deployments, with point-to-point or multipoint configuration options and rapid provisioning via pre-installed access points.

An agile and scalable approach

A key strength of nConnect is its support for agile edge deployments. This allows businesses to migrate their data or expand their capabilities without excessive budgetary constraints, while maintaining precise control over their bandwidth.

The platform also allows resources to be dynamically scaled according to business needs, with speeds ranging from 50 Mbps to 10 Gbps, without contention or traffic limitations.

Data security and sovereignty

In an environment where data confidentiality is a top priority, particularly in Switzerland, nConnect offers secure Ethernet networks and secure IP services. These technologies enable customers to operate in critical, high-density or AI-oriented environments while ensuring the protection of sensitive data, in alignment with Swiss regulatory standards.

Enabling multi-cloud strategies

nConnect facilitates hybrid and multi-cloud architectures by creating a virtual edge operating model. Through the integration of colocation and connectivity services, businesses can orchestrate their flows between different clouds, providers and nLighten sites without added complexity.

This approach is particularly suited to Swiss and international businesses that wish to diversify their cloud providers while maintaining centralised governance and consistent performance.

A European vision with a local footprint

While nConnect is a pan-European solution, its deployment in Switzerland reflects a commitment to local market needs. Flexibility, rapid implementation and pricing transparency are all factors that enable Swiss and internationalcompanies to become more agile, supporting sustainable, secure growth.
